LOL which version? The rock soundtrack or the old time movie music? They have a cartoon remake of that out on DVD I think. That film was way ahead of its time.

heheh....it was the original Jeff.

i liked the version with contemporary music too, but the original is still the best.

I know about the cartoon version, but haven't seen it.

It's like anime, isn't it? Japanese?

nothing can touch the original though, for sure!

LOL yeah I like the one with the old theater music best too.

I think the cartoon is  anime but I'm not sure. Haven't seen it yet. I need to buy the first one on DVD sometime. Ever check Wal-Mart for movies? They have a Bin now with Video tapes for 3.99 and DVD's for 5.89 and $5.50. Brand new stuff mostly but also old films and TV shows. K-mart has some old Hitchcock films from the '30's for $2.50 on DVD.

I just watched a really good movie ( Full length cartoon actually ) Batman The Mystery of The Batwoman. Like the other recent cartoons it's better then any of the Batman live action movies and that includes the ones from the 40's ,60's and 90's and even 2003 's unathorized film "Batman: Dead End".  Of course I never saw the  unathorized films from the 60's,70's or 80's. As I understand it there's over 30 Batman movies out there somewhere including Andy Warhols " Batman VS Dracula "

Anyway this film had a jazzy 1940's style filmscore and a far better story then the live action films. Sort of Sci-fi since it had some high tech gadgets and Bane in it.

One of my favorite B-Movies is "The Legend of Boggy Creek" !!

It was filmed in the 70's and deals with the boggy creek monster (a bigfoot type thing)........If you're looking for good acting don't watch,,,but if you like the old edge of your seat "OH WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN NExT" kind of movie,,,then you may like this flick !!!

There is 3 parts to this film but the 2nd one sucks,,,so try the first and third.....................

Later..................uN-sUB !!!

Forbidden Planet was real cool in it's day!

TV series One Step Beyond used to have some good ones

The Twilight Zone. One of my fav's was the Old Lady who kept getting mysterious calls only to find out a storm knocked the phone wires over her 1st loves grave and he was trying to contact her!

Night Gallery, Thriller & Outer Limits all kept me transfixed. Now we have Reality Shows! What a waste.

Shirley Jackson's "The Haunting of Hill House" made into a B&W movie starring Julie Harris & directed by Robert Wise was awesome. Suspense in this movie was great the remake was a joke!

"Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone."

We don't have anything to compare with stories like this now. Were still watching stories where Ghosts are using cell phones or computers to haunt us!

What a World!

"One Step Beyond" was a cool show, yes.

But my favorite from that era was "Science Fiction Theatre"

science-fiction anthology series where host Truman Bradley introduced stories extrapolated from actual scientific data available in the 1950's, concentrating on such concepts as space flight, UFO's and mental telepathy.

Interesting intelligent stories.

Great stuff!

P.s. chaz, i did too mention the 'gill-man' series.

 i love all of 'em.

Specially the one that featured a young Clint Eastwood as a lab assistant who is trying to hang on to a mouse.

can't remember which sequel that was though

"The Legend of Boggy Creek"  hehe I love that movie. I remember a 2nd but not a third. I'll have to look for that.
One Step Beyond  was great. I see it's on DVD now. Must get one :) The Twilight Zone,Thriller & Outer Limits  were all great. Night Gallery was good but zone was better. The Haunting was great. The remake so so but better then most of the crap they're giving us now. "Science Fiction Theatre"? I don't recall that one. How about " Ghost Story" ? It was a Summer show oh I don't remember when but the stories were supposly true.
 PS
Bard tried to post but couldn't for some reason. I think this board is haunted :)
Anyway he e-mailed it to me so I'll post it for him using his name LOL. Next post

Hi Everyone!  I've just been watching Batman Returns & although I'm a Tim Burton movie fan I still reckon the old TV Batman series was the best & as for the old DC comix I used to save them!

Carnival of Souls is brilliant. A horror pic I love is Carrie & I've seen it loads of times!

As for Metropolis we studied that for A-Level Film Studies which I got an A grade in & yes, it was an amazing film for its time that has influenced so many since!

Jeff

Yeah, thats the one jeff. Gigantic boxy robot that feeds on energy.  I believe it starred Jeff Morrow, who was also in

"This Island Earth", and one of the afore mentioned "Creature from the Black Lagoon' sequels.

Pretty good flick actually.

How bout "The Amazing Colossal Man" cheezy flick about a man that is exposed to a nuclear blast and grows to enormous proportions. Spends most of the movie terrorizing everyone, while wearing a giant sized diaper!  LOL!

or The Colossus of New York"" which starred Ross Martin(Artimus Gordon, of the Wild, Wild West tv show)who played a brilliant scientist who is killed in an accident, so his father transplants his brain into a robot, with predictable results.

And leave us not forget "Colossus: The Forbin Project"

about a super computer developed by the defense department who got so smart that it decided that humans are stupid and violent, and decided to take over the world to protect us from ourselves.

I can't believe that noone here remembers "Science Fiction Theatre"!! It was terrific!! Really!

"The Amazing Colossal Man" LOL also the follow up The "Amazing Colossal Beast" I believe. What about " Attack of The 50 Foot Woman"? The first one and then a not much better remake. "The Colossus of New York" I used to love that movie ! I remember "Colossus: The Forbin Project". They used to have it on TV alot but I haven't seen it for years."Science Fiction Theatre" I'm going to have to look for.

Thanks Chaz! Just posted over there.

One of my favorite 50's movies is "The Invasion of the Saucer Men".  Pretty cheesy cult flick with pretty cool aliens. I used to draw those aliens on my notebooks at school ALL THE TIME! Heheh...

kinda similiar plot as "The Blob", with a bunch of hotrodding teenagers trying to warn the adults about the 'invasion', and of course no one believed them.

the aliens had alcohol for blood, and injected people with their hypodermic fingers.

"The Invasion of the Saucer Men" freaked me out when I was a kid! That severed hand with the needles climbing up the back seat was too much for me I think I left the theater cause I was too scared!

Some were pretty campy like "NIGHT OF THE LEPUS" Giant Killer Wabbits!

LOL we're getting a long list. How about "Return of The Fly" ,"Curse of The Fly" "The Fly" ( remake ) and what was the remake of return of?

 Ok here's some:

Beware The Blob ( Larry Hagman wrote and stars )

 "Black Sunday"

Black Sabbath"

" Plague of The Zombies"

 Ok here's a trivia question:

Name the ONLY two actors to play Jekyll and Hyde without the use of make up to make the transformation to Hyde.

Bet no one gets it LOL

Jeff asks, "How about "Return of The Fly" ,"Curse of The Fly" "The Fly" ( remake ) and what was the remake of return of?" and "Name the ONLY two actors to play Jekyll and Hyde without the use of make up to make the transformation to Hyde."

The Fly 2

Lon Chaney & Basil Rathbone?

We covered a lot of classic spooky films, we might have to take it up a notch and start listing newer films like The Exorsist (which I saw when it came out, but didn't think it was really scary). Poltergeist, which had it's major stars die, (very suspiciously-supernatural). Rosemary's Baby, tame or lame?

Good guess Chaz but not it. I'll give a clue. One actor was silent. One was musical and used his voice as well as facial expressions. You know him from TV.

 Modern films?

"Ghost Ship "
